FAQs

ABOUT
  • No, a partner is always welcome but not a requirement. Both scenarios are very common. In group classes we rotate partners often and even those attending as a pair are encouraged to trade partners throughout the class.

Private lessons are tailored around your needs. If taking lessons solo, your instructor also doubles as your partner. If taking lessons with a partner, the instructor guides both parties to better understand their role as a lead or follow. Anything to get you dancing is our priority!

  • Yes. We believe there’s a style of dance suited for everyone and that the joy it brings all brave enough to try it is second to none. We want you to ‘Love the way you move’ and we are especially honored to guide anyone on that journey from the very beginning.

  • Wear athletic clothes that allow mobility. Dance shoes are not necessary to start if you’re brand new, but they do help with support and balance so we highly recommend them as you progress. No sandals please. Shoes need a closed heel.

  • Private Lessons are perfect for both kids and adults of all ages (7 is our recommended starting age for kids).

Currently Group Classes offered are for adults only unless otherwise specified.

  • Strut offers a wide range of dance styles to suit every preference, skill level, and aspiration whether social, competitive, or special event focused. From American and International-Style Ballroom to West Coast Swing, Country Western, Line Dance, Club Latin, and Hustle, we provide expert instruction covering both partnering and solo movement skills in all these styles to help you shine on the dance floor.

  • Yes. It is our pleasure to help new couples prepare for the first day of the rest of their lives together and/or parents prepare to celebrate such a big life event with their son or daughter. We highly recommend starting lessons several months before the wedding, though we specialize in choreographing a dance around both your vision and available timeline.

  • We offer both group classes and private lessons, either of which can be a great start to your dancing.

Group Classes at Strut are uniquely designed to cater to multiple levels of dance while providing a fun, social outlet. Beginners are able to explore different dance styles and meet new people who share similar interests. Experienced dancers get a chance to focus on a style in more depth or even pick up a new one. Classes are a great supplement to private lessons. Feel free to drop in at any time. The sooner the better!

Private Lessons allow for a personalized learning experience. Each session provides one-on-one time with your instructor on a shared dance floor, allowing you to focus on your goals, refine your technique, and progress at your own pace. They are a great pre-cursor to group classes and the fastest way to becoming comfortable on the dance floor. • Group classes are 55 minutes long and no advance sign-up is necessary to attend. While consistent participation achieves the fastest results, we know life can get busy so you are more than welcome to drop in when it is convenient for you. Some dancing is always better than no dancing! Please arrive 10 minutes early to sign in and change your shoes as needed.

  • Classes are $25 each per person. Package prices are available. Please call 630.834.7994 or fill out a contact form for more information.

  • Dancers arriving more than 15 min late to group class will not be admitted in order to preserve the progress of the class.

In a private lesson setting, it should be assumed that the lesson will end at the scheduled time regardless of any late arrival. Availability/willingness to make up that time is up to the discretion of your instructor.

  • No refunds will be given for Group Classes after 15 min into the class. As for Private Lessons, we ask that you are respectful of your instructor’s time and aim to give at least 24 hours notice if possible so they have the chance to fill your lesson slot. Because we know sometimes life duties call last minute (even while you’d rather be dancing), as a studio we do not enforce any strict cancellation policy. Repeat cancellations might be asked to find a new time slot to try.
